Fella's; This isn't left hand specific, but it sure is gonna help I think. Today, I received the new front rest I ordered from Brownell's. I got the Witchita front rest, and I'm pleased with what arrived. Gotta admit though, the front rest I had been using was hardly a precision piece of equipment. It's just a plastic thing I got from Midway for about ten bucks many years ago. This one is cast iron, should be heavy enough to want to stay put when "BANG" occurs. The old one made me take at least a minute between shots to realign equipment. Not a bad thing I suppose, but a definate PIA. This one has three feet that are reversable. There's a helluva sharp point on one end of the screw thread and a flat foot on the other. I'm gonna glue a rubber anti-skid pad on the flat end feet since the bench surface at my range is smooth concrete. If the benches had been wood, there would-a been no need to do anything, that rest could ride out a hurricane & not go anywhere with those spikes in the bench. The real reason I got this rest though is the fore-end stop. I've been told several times, by people who know, that putting the fore-end in the same place with the same pressure point, is essential to repeatability in the accuracy game. I had hoped that my front bag was gonna work with this rest. Doesn't look like that's the case. I'll have to order an owl ears bag here sometime real soon now. Might as well get it from Brownell's too. And some patches, and then there's that other thing, if I can ever 'member what the hell it is. And on. It's hell gettin' old. 900F |

CB wrote "It's hell gettin' old." Sure beats the alternative. You'll love your new toy. I never new what accuracy was until I got one myself. RD |

You will like it. Those points on the feet really do "bite" into wood. Our club doesn't let shooters use them (retract the feet) because they really tear up the wood benches. I threw away my plastic think years ago, you will see tighter groups. |

Fella's; Well, my front rest bag that fit the old plastic "think" doesn't fit the sexy new Witchita rest so good. Sooooo, I bit the bullet and ordered a small owl ears bag to go with the new rest. And yup, orderitis hit me hard, I couldn't quit! I went to Midway, they had a special on the Southern Bloomer rifle patches. Half price! Got a thou of them comin'. And a couple of modified cases for my overall length gauge. Then! Then!! On to Turner slings and ordered another one of those beautiful leather accessories. If you don't believe me, just ask Blackie, I know he's got one. And I also know that shortly after he got it, somebody else tried to snuckulate out his door with it. All in all, my mad-money got depleted. No original Wyatt Earp bonafide-he-used-it-at-the-OK-corral peacemaker for me this month. Oh the anguish of letting short-term wanna's get in front of long-term goals. Actually, I'd take the Ducati before I'd pop for W.E.'s sixgun. And a helluva lot less money spent too. 900F |
