Well,  I'm startin' to cross the 5 mile a day walk, run, or bike.

This mornin' however I wore a new pair of shorts that had a rough seam....

Long story short.. OOOOWWWCCCHHHHH.......

Aside from not takin' new gear in what's the best type of briefs to wear.

i ain't bought non of them biken' pants yet, but If I get to ten miles I might have to.. It's gettt'n hot.

Those bicycle shorts are the best damn thing for rding long distances. After that a good set of poly undewear. The secret is to not wear any cotton shorts under them. The cotton, besides having rough seams, doesn't wick of the sweat, and contributes to chaffing and galling. Just remember to wash them out regularly along with you ownself.

Usually when hunting, I ride only 4-5 miles, and the cotton boxer shorts work ok, but I also always wear long johns. They help you slide back and forth some. You just have to remember  to not do anything fats enough to make you sweat.

Don't tell nobody I sed so, but thet there capelene stuff is good unnerware.  I know, its plastic like wimmins panties, but they say everbody's got them womun hormones in 'em 'long with the tetesticlerone.  Anyhoo, polypropolene unnerware makes lots of sense on long walks too.  I hate that chaffing you get, specially when the ol' buttcheeks are more generous than they used to be.  Also, although I wear wool longjohns, they actually got a poly layer next to the skin to wick away sweat, which yer gonna git by 10 oclock, on your third or forth ridge climb of the day.  Best to keep the daypack empty to shed clothes during the walkin'.  Lots of fellers show up with daypacks crammed with everthin' from firestarters to extra ammo.  A man only needs 10 rounds max on his belt for a day's hunt, and lots of stuff can be left in yer hosses saddlebags (learn to tie 'em up good).  Never fergit the feller thet went on an' on 'bout how he was a eagle scout, an' could tie a bowline as well as anybody 'thout the usual lessin I gave.  Needless to say, he was a tired SOB after walkin' back to camp thet night.

I've got some good poly longies from Cabelas.. but man this cotton ain't the way to go fer long haul stuff.  I really don't know how far we went but the wife and I were damn near doin' a power walk... We were out over 2 hours and covered a good 4 or 5 miles maybe more.

The chaff'n weren't from the briefs as much as the stiff canvas seams in these new shorts.  The seams weren't sewn flat like they are in jeans, and it was about 83 and humid as all get go.   Thats probably what did it....  I've gotten the same sort of thing from longer bike rides... Ouch.

Thats good advice Mule...  on the pack havin' room for shed'n layers.  I've also near got the bowline down, and tryn' use then all I can  I got so I could tie one behind my back but need more practice.  Get some funny looks at work doin' it when I'm bored.  I'm gonna half to send that book back with some jerky one of these days..

Riding a horse? Don't wear any unless I need longhandles because it's cold.

A bike? Real bike shorts have either chamois or fake chamois to cut down on chafing but it doesn't work if you wear underwear.
