Hi guys,

Sorry i haven't been around for he last year but ive been thinking about all my friends here at the BSB. I got skunked last season and i'm getting ready for the bow season which begins next weekend. Anhow i've been looking around for aerial photos of my fav hunting area and a lady i spoke to that has them or can get them says that she needs to know the fly line because if she has to look it up it will cost me $70.00. Does anyone know what she means by a fly line? She was chinese so i'm not sure if i understood everything she said. She said fly line and something else. You guys in the U.S. have Terra server and we don't have anything like that that deals with my area that i know of. The area that i'm looking for is in the south okanagan where i live called Naramata which is a few minutes north of my home city of Penticton in case anyone ones to try looking it up for me. People have told me to try google earth but i don't have an easy time figuring out the site.

Thanx

 Gary

goto www.googleearth.com and download the free program. you can zoom in anywhere in the world and print out photos for free if you want. see my "2007" hunting diary in the BSBlogs for an example.

any questions, just ask!

Gary,

Google Earth is what you want....and it's free.  I've been able to find my leopard blind in Zimbabwe and the place I shot my griz in Alaska.

Right now I'm looking at your area.  It is there at a fair resolution.  I can "see"  Partridge road area and the valleys north there of.

Sorry the pic is protected an I can't get it to up load but it shows lots of farms adjacent a north-south lake.

Try it it is really very user friendly.

I found my area but its quite blurry. Is there something to focus with in the program?

Interesting Gary, the more I look at that area satellite, the more interesting it gets.

You must have some military significant facility up there.  The resolution jumps real high and then the actual installation is burned off the pic????????   What you guys doing up there

See 42degrees 41 minutes 28.07 seconds N

and 119degrees 32 minutes 04.23 seconds W

Pretty sneaky stuff?

Gary

resolution varies.  The satellites are basically spy stuff.  so where things are very "interesting" they are at higher resolution.  Check out that lon/lat I gave you .  see how you can see even the rocks and cars?

the pic takes a while to download all the info, there is a percentage counter in the bottom of the pic when it is 100, it is as good as it gets.  But might take some time to download.

There arent any military bases here other than enlisting centres. There is one in Vernon just north of here but its just some barracks and a parade square.
