What binoculars do you guys use for your hunting? I am thinking about buying a pair and i was wondering what were the best binocs for the buck.

they're probably not the best, even for the buck, but i ahve a pair of k-mart (focal) brand 10x50 binocs and they have been more than adequate for what i do, which is to look through them for a few seconds when i think i see something.

if you are going to spend a LOT of time looking through glass, you should get the best that you can afford to avoid eyestrain, headaches, etc.

NH,

I would recommend a pair of bushnell legend 8x32 for north wood's hunting.  They "unfog" really fast when your hunting in real cold weather due to the rainguard coating they have.  I use an busnell elite 3200 on the shotgun for the November season at my dad's camp in upsate NY.  I use to use a simmons but had serious trouble keeping it from fogging up.

Hey macca, I know a guy who has Leica binocs. Since he got them, I have seen more game without binocs than he has seen with them. I also dont feel like dishing out 700 bucks for a set of binocs, no matter how good they are. If anything i will go bushnell or leupy.

Spotshooter, i too have had problems with scopes fogging up. That is the beauty of ruger bases and rings. The bases are integral, and the rings are quick detach. I did that with a 96/44, but since i hate that rifle with every fiber of my being, my new go to gun is a winchester 94 with a ramline plastic stock on it. The rifle handles like a rifle should, and the sights are a lot better. I will probably buy a Lyman reciever sight for it at some point, and I may get a Marble peep for my marlin, but i am not sure yet.

NH,

I own a pair of Lieca 8x42's, durn things took me more than a couple of months to pay off.  What ever you get make sure your gonna be able to carry them.  I have a small 7x25 set I use for bow hunting, but lately I've taken to glassing moving deer in the woods to check run locations when they're just out of seeing range.  I leave them in my chest coat pocket, and also use them to verify whats moving so I can spend more time watchin all the trails instead of thet stupid squirrel.

I found a pair of Steiner 8x30s for 200 bucks outa cabelas. That seemed like a reasonable price to me. I may get some Bushnell Legends yet though. Its still a few weeks from when i will need to use them.
