i entered three new forums today, and hope that you all enjoy them!

in the local interest section, i entered pennsylvania and michigan. i remind all members that if they want their state, province or country in the local interest section, just let me know! i am tempted to put a local interest board up for the aussies, but so far no one has requested one.....

also, in the coffee corner, i put up a board for discussions about sports. i'm not much of a sports fan, except for rodeo and nascar, but i see that a lot of other members are. should be a pretty good place to flame each other's teams a bit, i think. (raiders SUCK!)

anyway, i hope these new ones take off. i am playing with the idea of "thinning the herd" a bit. getting rid of anything that really isn't being used. i'll see how things go over the course of the month!

finally, i was thinking that with the demise of shooters.com/hunters.com that there is quite a void out there for people who like to discuss the outdoors sports. i have been to many of the other forums. some, such as the accurate reloading forum, are great. others are pretty good, but seem to cater only to one crowd or the other. the marlin board is an example. there are also a few that suffer from excessive moderating, or from the fact that the members are extremely PC, and these are not eally impressive in my opinion. anyway, if you know someone who might be interested, or know a former shooters/hunters.com member who is feeling homesick, feel free to invite them to the baitshop to try it out and see if they like it. i am MORE than willing to make this a place where people want to come,a nd enjoy the company.

Tas,

Put all the fishin stuff under one headin, an if you do create a reloadin board, better not put the word accurate anywhere near it cause half the guy's here use Remington components. (the raiders do suck)

other than that indiscretion... yeah, 'thin the herd'... some of the forums get zero traffic and they do a great job of cluttering the board.

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.

No elk forum?  I hate bein' lumped in with skunk killers an' other such riff raff.  Maybe we need a Bull Elk forum and a cow forum for that matter.  They can sit over there an say stuff like "you can't eat the horns".  Maybe a forum for only pack-in bull elk hunters.  Wouldn't want none of them ATVers to show up.  How about a non-magnum pack-in bull elk hunters' forum?  Might as well keep all the poor stock outta my hair.

Like your ideas but do want to throw a word of caution.  You get too many forums out there, people may not get much in return.  In other words, if you have 1000 members and 1000 boards, that might average out to one person and response per board.  If you keep the boards limited in number you might get some guys to congregate in certain areas.  I've seen it happen before.  Not a criticism, just an observation!

spot -

PLEASE quit talkin' smack about my fishing boards! they are thinned out as far as they can go! lots of peeps like to fish, they just haven't heard about us yet.~~

mule -

if i made an elk forum, i'd have to have one for deer (whitetail and mule), one for antelope, one for black bear, one for moose, one for sheep, etc. etc.....

i'de be happy to do that, but it would sure spread things out!

mountaineer -

you hit the nail right on the head. i'd like to keep it at 50 max, but would be willing to go down even from that, if the occasion called for it. one place where i am thinking hard about cutting is the auctions. another one is the campfire stories/cowboy art&poetry. these boards are DEAD. after NH_hunter's auction ends, i think those two will go. this will bring me back down to 50 boards, which is good.

thanks for the PA board.  Mountaineer your welcome ( I had suggested an eastern woods location).

On fishing I'd think a fresh-water and a salt-water board would cover it well.

Not to compare this site to "shooters" but they had too many forums/rooms also.

How about instead of a bunch of local boards, we have an Eastern Hunting one and a Western Hunting one. That way there is less clutter. And so then i dont feel so left out

Well keep jus' the one "big game" board then, but you'll have to make sure fellers like Kingpin unnerstand its about hunting large animals.  I sometimes think there are folks who think it means we're all here to play one "big game" of grab ass.

Tash, you did hit on a good idea there, unless I misunderstood what you said. "i'd have to have one for deer (whitetail and mule)," I think a board for Mule would be ideal, he's the only one in here obscessed with "one "big game" of grab ass." He says it all the time, and I for one agree that he needs his own board......Kingpin
