Shot several foxes the other night and we were skinning them and found two flattened .22 cal projectiles under the skin of one fox.One was lodged near the shoulder and another in between two ribs. Both of these were old wounds as the skin was healed and scarred over.At a guess I would say someone was at max range and put two on the fox with neither doing enough damage.

I have come across this twice before and occasionally found shotgun pellets as well. Was just wondwering if anyone else had ever found this in an animal they had shot?

Definetly a case of not enough cal or maybe  a better statement is too much range for the cal used.

Have a good one macca.

Macca

Out where i hunt there is alot of Govt ADC activity including Air-Gunning, I have peeled a great many dogs with numerous steel shot pellets in their backs and rear ends as well, man those animals are tough huh? how are you doing on the Reds this year?  the NAFA report claims they are holding their own. Fur Season here is only 12 weeks out.  Last season i pulled a $38 average on my Coyotes, i'm hoping for the same or slightly better this season. Take Care Macca:  Blaine

Good aye Blaine. Thanks for the advice on the foxes it worked a treat.Big smileNumbers have eased a bit as lots of sheep properies are baiting them near to lambing. It is mating time down here and we are getting about six a night when I can get out.The knock I took on my head slowed me down for about a month.Got the all clear from the neuro on Thursday.Bleeding has stopped for the time being.

Prices have flucuated up and down the last month.$25 to a top of $32 for good skins. It has snowed but we have had a mild winter and the pelts are not as good as they could be.Given that prices are strong.I wish you all the best for the coyotes and hope it is a bumper year.Have a good one macca.Cool

Good Lord Macca, how did you get the knock on the head? that sounds serious as hell buddy! Better go easy for a bit huh?  I'm glad that bit of info helped out , 6 reds a night is a damn good average, great job Macca!  Thats not a bad average pricewise for your fur either. According to the latest N.A.F.A. report, all indications are at this time  that we should again have a strong Fur Year like you mentioned, or at least much better than it has been in recent years. Go easy on that head of yours Macca, we Varmint Hunters are a little bit OFF to begin with, ha! take it easy bud:  Blaine
