mr mom,

I see in yesterday's and today's newpapers and on TV that your Lake Mich offshore fishing area gave up 7 lives during Friday's big storm. Appears to be mostly beach dwellers. With all the forewarnings there is no excuse. Coast Guard was quite busy during the episode.

Good Luck on the fishing, Gene

edip : the storm came in fast. i was at the beach around 7:30 am didnt look to bad. i came home an seen the radar. called to see if my uncle went out. he didnt but a bunch of the older guys were.  i went down and they got off just as it hit.  there were 7 drownings in a 2 mile strech of beach in 3 hrs. the red flag WAS up but the people dont care. they came across the p.a. systen and told everyone to stay out of the water. but they are from out of state and they know more than we do.  as far as i know they were all from out of state.  5 were mexicans  and some married man and woman. what got me to laugh was when the storm hit with all the thunder and lighting. all the mexicans were huddled up under 3 cotton wood trees right on the beach.  all i can say it you have to respect the lake or it will get ya.  its hard to tell the kids we cant go because it might get bad. plus with putting the boat in right on the lake you have no place to hide. i have seen to many boats swamped on the beach and to many people go in just because they have to get a fish.
