Missouri river brakes monument. The Ice is mostly gone in the Virgil area. The walleye are starting to make there move as is the Northern pike. The cats will be very soon with the small mouth bass. Shovel nose sturgeons may already be thinking about it too. We only got a 19" walleye and a 30"plus pike and some MONSTER carp. COLD and an east wind, the river is coming up and starting to change color.
We Found this dirt dam, it has been breached for many years for what ever reason, Put if you look you can see it Had to be quite an impondment. The coulees run for miles and branch off all over. The dam looks to be over 50 feet high. Interesting.

Nice fish.  good eating there.

That is a really scary BREAK  in the dam. does that dam have a name?

Unless drained first, it would of made a BIG mess downstream?

No name that I know, on private land in the monument.
For what ever reason, MANY private dams where intentionally breached back in the 90s all over Mt.
I would guess there was some kind of regulation change, and the old dirt dams no longer were up to "Code"
The Bank across the river you see in the pic is actually a "Delta" maybe from the breaching but I think it is from a millennia of debris washed down the Creek before the dam.
