t.t.u.: i use to use aluinium arrows . lot of bent or broke shafts every year. seem like i was alway buying new 1's. went to graphite and still have 4 of the origanial dozen i got 13 years ago. the only thig i dont like about the grapitite is the wound chanel isnt as big that you get with the aluinuim. the kids all went with the cheap grapgite. after 1 year of shooting the are all going back to aluinium.

I use carbons. Main reason is strenght. I screw around a LOT and got
tired of bending and breaking aluminums. Cheap carbons are less
expensive then aluminums and still hold up 10x better in my oppinion. I
don't see the need for the ultra light arrows though, they just cause
to many tuning issues with bows. My carbons weight in at 425gr, am
aluminums at 450gr, so I'm not buying into the huge energy loss by
using carbons. I do beleive they loose some KE when you go with the
expensive ultralite 300gr arrows, but I don't really feel the need to
have a bow shooting 320fps either..

I've bounced many off rocks and trees and have broke a couple, but with
aluminums is is almost agrauntee thet is you hit something hard it will
be damaged. BUT, if you do hit a rock or something with carbons make
sure you give it a once over, it won't bend but it could crack or fray,
if any damage like that is seen DO NOT re-use it. It could shatter upon
release and leave you with some pretty nasty wounds on your face and
arms.
