I think it sounds very interesting.
But it may be too soon to make a good decision about it.

I pay no attention to anything new at first. Marketing, marketing, marketing. Whatever hype it takes to sell guns and ammo. Is this the one with steel cases??

Diminishing returns!
You can only burn so much powder. Seems they claim significant improvement at 600 yards plus. Not much hunting at those distances. However, if you compare it to the 7 Rem Mag, the standard .280 magnum, if offers about 150 fps faster. If you compare it with the 7mm Rem Ultra mag then with 160 gr a few FPS slower. And it does this at a higher pressure, does that mean more case stretch, more throat erosion, shorter case live, etc Also it says case is special alloy. Well, it is steel!!!!! Does anyone load steel 9mm cases? aluminum cases? The navy does reload 4" dia steel but only a few times. So does that mean problems for reloader? Remember Federal would prefer you buy loaded ammo from them. I see it bone dead in 18 months. basically hype. LOL got to laugh at all the on-line reviews by guys with big cowboy hats. Sounds like they are reading the script from the Remington EtronX rifle .....remember that 'revolutional' rifle cartridge? If you can't beat the 7mm ultra mag by a lot (using brass reloadable case). No significant improvement and plenty of negatives.

Its more intended for 20". A 26" 7 PRC and a 20" Backcountry run at the same speed with the same bullets. I think some people want the short to use a suppresser. They claim its a special blend of Steele and can be reloaded.

This is the first time I've ever heard of it.
If it's not reloadable I don't think I would be interested. If the aftermarket comes out with a brass case or in some way makes it reloadable I would take a look at it.

Lots of people are concerned about die wear, so they clean and wipe their cases so as to not damage them. Wonder what die wear comes from using steel case. Got to be a hard resize, and more case expansion from more pressure. also wonder things like mouth tension with steel, could be difficult but critical.
I worked with navvy advanced research on steel cases for 4+ inch diameter long guns, used on naval ships. Seem to remember that they had carbide dies, but you cant make carbide dies for bottleneck cases. Just thoughts. None of the 'new' stuff seems to be to lower cost of shooting, just increasing costs.

Is it based off of another cartridge?
I don't know anything about it.

Watch what velocity they cite. some say 3000 in a 20 inch barrel. Other seem to give higher velocity, but close watch shows 24 inch barrels.
The 7 Rem mag does that with a 24 inch barrel, and if you load it a little hoter does much better. So think of it as an expensive round to get 20" barrel. which might mean something with can shooters, but little to hunters. and the small increase in velocityonly means significance at or beyond 600 yards. This seems to be heavily promoted by commercial guys that got a FREE hunt from Hornady, and bun men LOL |

A 7MM PRC with a 26" barrel VS a 7MMBC with a 20" are the same speed with the same bullet. The BC it intended to be a short barrel with a suppresser. They claim you can reload them with standard dies.
Less powder than a 7MM RM, with less barrel erosion. Supposedly can be shot with a normal action. I don't know but if it's most of what they claim it should be an alternative to the LONG High power barrel burners. We will see.

I'm sticking with my 275 Rigby and 7mm Rem Mag.
I have better options in my gun vault for elk, moose and griz. So 7mm to me is deer and antelope. This year Missed an antelope (first time) with my 6.5-08, standing at 160 yards. so time to get another rifle up! must be the rifle, it couldn't be me!
