HUMMM?
Very interesting read,Vinootz. The rifle I have never herd of but sounds cool. BUT I think I have to lean toward what I have. Rem 700, 8mm rem mag, I get little better performance then a 325. I do wish I had a 26" barrel on it.

i use to hunt with a guy that had a 300 AI with a 32 inch barrel. He liked it and said it gave him 150 FPS faster and less muzzle rise.
It was a SS tube and I could see it when he moved from 600 yards away. Might also reduce recoil. Wonder why there are not more barrels over 24"?

?They do? I thought they all disappeared! I may have to fill a niche. The 8's have always been lacking in popularity. Never understood why either. Maybe that Winny made the 338 and had great marketing at the time it just got overlooked as a funky "Euro" style thing?

"Wonder why there are not more barrels over 24"?"
Back in the day It was the "IN" thing. People now still feel a hunting rifle needs to be 24". That and weight I would supposes. Most "NEW" rifles ordered new can be with 26" barrels.

.323 cartridges are growing on me. I want to invest in a quality 8x57. If I ever get a belted cartridge chambering I decided it will be an 8mm rem mag. I’ve been avoiding belted cartridges. This all developed ever since I bought two 325wsm rifles; and took up reloading. Plus I invested in expensive K&M mandrels for 8mm and .30calibers. Lol. I like the idea of the 8mm REM mag with the 150 grain bullets for 3400 fps velocities. Also, 8mm was one of the first calibers made in the 1800s. The Lebel by the French. I consider it the granddaddy of rifle cartridges. Shame it’s not more popular. 35 ft. Lbs of recoil ain’t all that bad. At the bench cushion up. Good stuff.

We have an 8 RM a 8X57 and a 7X57, no 325wsm.
The 8x57 is great, in my mind the 7x57 is Greater, but all Pale to the Big 8. I have no input on the wsm.

When I bought my double barrel rifle, I could have picked anything and the 4558 was enticing.
But I picked 8x57 as more useable, works for deer and black bear.
