Just trying to do something different and use some of the brass we have picked up.
We have a few 223's and one 556 now so just loading it up is not the direction we think we want to go.
Kind of thinking about a 17 556. The boy has a 17 hornet k that if we're saving fur that is his "go to" coyote gun. It looks like it would be about 17 rem speed. What are your thoughts.
There is a barrel chambering in 17 556 we can get for one of the AR's.
Remember: Four boxes keep us free ,the soap box, the ballot box, the jury box, AND the cartridge box

I like the idea of a 17- 556 but the wind almost always blows here. I don't mean like a light breeze I mean like gale force wind.

That kinda rules out anything .17 for me.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

hey d,  interesting thought you have there....first I heard of that wildcat cartridge but below is a tidbit of info on the subject.  Redding dies are listed for the 17-5-56-kak wildcat round. The link below shows a system for the conversion of an AR rifle that you may have already found.

Western hunting even with a 22 cal is a windy proposition.

Of the 556/223 wildcats I like the 7 TCU.  with cast bullets they make a nice sub-sonic cartridge.
