I have that "Itch" again, no not poison ivy or clap... I personally don't have any a 25 in anything. The boy has a 257 roberts and his wife has a 26-06 and a 257 WB. I bet a Ruger AM 2nd gen 22 I barrel suppressed, would be great. A 250-3000 would be very similar but the creed is a little easer to find components. I'm not thinking deer, more varmints and preditors. Thoughts?

Actually the 250-3000 is one of the easiest to make. use 270, 257, 30-06, 308.
The Creedmore can only be easily made from 30 T/C and an obsolete cartridge. Have you thought of the 6mm T/C or the 25 copperhead?

No I have never herd of them.
Most barrels in 250 3000 have a slower twist and not throated long for the new high BC bullets. It would not make sense to me not to use the new fangled bullets. We have a few 25's, I'm always looking different.  |

I know the new gen 2 Ruger comes in 6mm Creedmore and 6mm ARC but I've not seen it offered in 25 Creedmore ( a wildcat?)

I think that sounds like a great idea. I got my grandaughter a 6.5 creedmoor and I see brass for it at most every shop that has components. I have even picked up some at the range. I think it will always be around.
A heavy .25 bullet is quite a bit lighter than a heavy 6.5 bullet. That being said, A heavy .25 bullet should be great for everything from gophers to deer. Is that the best of both worlds?

Been reloading for the Roberts for 45 years. largest .257 bullet was always 117 grs.
I see now they are selling 131 138 grain .257 bullets...most are for target. That is a 20% heavier!!!

Leanth of a bullet is a bigger reason to shoot "Heavy for caliber" to get a better BC. A copper 117 bullet is a LOT longer and a 138 gr copper bullet is MUCH longer. A 128 gr Hammer hunter is Bullet length is 1.515″ and is Recommended use: Big game hunting.

You know Bear always banter back and forth about this "New" stuff.
Matter of fact, his Info is from well established facts and years of proof. Mine always sound like theory and assumptions. With little real world experience. But some were in the middle is probably closer to truth. It comes down the fact I just WANT some of this stuff, need never has anything to do with it. I think have the fun is in the development.
And yes sometimes Bear does in fact change my mine and I drop it before I start. It's hard to ignore so many years for his extensive experience. Love ya Bear keep me on my toes... |

I get what both of you are saying. Back in the day there wasn't a .25 caliber bullet that was over an inch and a half long. I agree that technology has and will improve everything.
On the other hand, I'm the guy that's inside the wall tent pumping up the gasoline tank on my Coleman stove trying to get a fire going while everyone else is outside the tent drinking hot coffee eating bacon and eggs.
