Last night I ran across an old book, "Secret Fresh and salt water fishing Tricks of the World's 5- best Professional Fishermen".
First joke is those 50 Best are all G.L.Herter. Instead of 50 well written articles by 50 guys on different topics; it is thousands of paraagraph sized Stratagems of the author. Best one was Never go fisshing without a pistol! If you liked to read the old Herter's catalog...you'll recognise his favorite descriptive word BEST! Published in 1961....by who elso but........Herter's inc.

I remember looking through a Herters catalog when I was a kid. Even as a kid I liked his sense of humor.
I might look on one of the auction sites and see if I can find the book you are talking about. I'm sure it's good reading. Wing master

George Leonard Herter was a GREAT BS'er and everything in his catalogs were labeled as "Model Perfect" whatever it was. A guy I used to work with long ago said "reading a Herter's catalog is Better than a Dime Novel"!

I'll give you my copy when I see you wing.
Funny I gave away a few hundred books from my library when i moved. BUT, somehow, I still have a few heter's catalogs, his reloading manual, his lure making book, his taximermy book, etc. Must like the laughfs.
