![]() ![]() The Creed is doing it's job. This tome the other direction west of town 70 miles, short grass prairie. Two different sets. We called in 5 different spots 3 got away free. 2 didn't, 300 yards ish little wind no runners. It's a shame the fur is worthless. Theas, If i wanted to "finish " them, are $150 dogs.

The snow melted AND it blew away. You were at the same place we were hunting. Up by Gibson. We saw the cow elk was dead, hung up in the fence. Big country the extra power sure is doing the job 💪😁 |

I do remember that stupid doe elk that hung itself on the fence. a gate was open just a few yards away. nice high country.
I'd like to get back out there, always enjoyed our time hunting and fishing...and eating bunny burritos. LOL good days.

Too bad they aren't worth anything. Oh well, At least you're getting rid of baby deer killers.

Better than that. This was the dominant pair.
They stop all the other breeding. With them gone there will be MORE coyote in the area. I didn't tell you all. The dog with my ugly mug in it was the mail. If you zoom way in you can see a deformity in its eye. Some point in its life it got shot in the eye with a 22 LR or something. As you know I try to keep the sculls. This one had a broken scull for the bullet. I went to cut it off and it felt like a bag full of marbles, it mushed all around, yuk. It made blood and brain stuff come out it's ears. DBL Yuk. We were trying to stay in front of a snow storm so we bugged out with out either scull. ![]() Edited by d4570 - 04 January 2026 at 10:26 |

Wow. He was a tough old guy. I'm surprised he survived the first shot.

We shot one a while back that must had been hit by a truck. When it came in to an aggressive coyote sounds. It looked like he had a slight limp. When we skinned him out he was covered in fat so it had been eating well, his face was covered in battle scars so he was routinely fighting other coyotes. He was missing a front foot, one of his rear legs had been either cut, torn off at the knee. It's pelvis was broken in two and would wobble around. His lower jaw was broken and healed many teeth where growing in crooked or gone. One eye was gone and healed over completely. One ear was shredded and limp. Now remember he was coming in to defend his territory. After over coming all that he was fat and sassy. I felt bad we shot him, what a fighter...

That's amazing. It would be really interesting to know how he lived. I understand feeling a little bad for shooting him. He fought his way through a lot of life.
It makes me think the elk I shot this year might have just been tough. She took 2 .308's to the boiler room and still got up after laying there for a while.
