Tikka;

The Golden Eagle is/was made by Nikko Firearms Ltd., of Japan.  My data, which is not up to date, shows them imported from 1976 - 1981.  There may be a more recent importation that I'm not aware of.

In any case, the 76 -81 guns are worth something in the mid-$500's to maybe $700.00 absolute tops, for NIB.

They're made in New Orleans???    Actually looks like made in Japan by Nikko. Is it a model 7000?  Sorry, but I don't really know much about them.  The little I've seen written about them hasn't told who they're made by, (Howa or Nikko or other)  You lookin' at this to buy?

Somebody better call the Secret Service. Let 'em know there's an illegal alien in the White House...and it ain't the cook!!

 A friend has one in .270 wby. I refinished the stock and bedded it for him. I'm not a real fan of rear locking lugs. The stock as can be seen is a WBY knockoff. I can't remember who made it, but I know it wasn't Howa. I wasn't overly impressed but I don't like that style. It wasn't well received and was overpriced. I haven't heard a lot of positive feedback from the few reviews I've read by knowledgeable folks in firearm design.

The stock in the first pic looks pretty good.  The stock in the third pic looks like the last couple of inches were cut off.  Yuck!

Hey Mike . . . I can give you a little info . . . Company was Singer-Nikko Ltd. of Japan.  They were mainly known for their very fine shotguns.  They made O-U shotguns for many companies: Savage, Winchester, Charles Daly, Sears, Daiwa, and others.  They made weapons from about 1958 to 1989 and went out of business in 1989.  Not made by any other company than themselves.  Beautiful stuff.  I have seen the Nikko Golden Eagle selling for around $400-$500.  The rifles were a small part of their production.  Hope this helps.

Hi Mike - I've seen a few Alpine rifles here in Canada. They are an econo bolt rifle. Blued with iron sites & wood stocks. Made in England. Kinda like a Parker-Hale rifle. The Alpines I've seen seem to be fairly well made & functional. Mostly sell in the $400 Canadian range up here locally. Like the Parker-Hale rifles are most often found in the standard ctgs like .30-06, .270 and .308, etc.

Mornin' all . . . this has developed into an interesting thread . . . by the way . . . Nikko is into air rifles now and there is a Nikko-Stirling scope line.  The shotguns they made were superb . . . one of the high dollar Winchester over-and-unders was Nikko made . . . course Winchester is a Belgian company [Herstal] and you never know where they get anything any more [Geez!].  But then again, a Belgian-made Browning semi-auto rifle would be nice

Continuing on . . . if this nutty Border Collie will LET me . . . I fondly remember when Herters carried BSA rifles and an Eastern European mauser rifles too.  Get'em through the mail . . . those were the good old days.  I wanted one of those BSAs.  A BSA motorcycle would have been nice too!

The Belgium Brownings were some of the finest rifles ever made and bought into this USA back in the 60's. The most accurate rifle right out of the box I ever owned was such a rifle in the 300 win mag offering. It shot 1.5 inch groups at 200 yards using the Browning ammo in the 180 grain bullets back then.

If you get to put your hands on one of these Safari type rifles, you will appreciate the works of the Belgium Browning craftsmen of that time. Many of those were German machinists from world war 2 days. The machine work on these rifles was first class art work.
