These are the solid copper bullets designed for deep penetration. Two questions. How well do they expand, if at all, and are they legal for deer? Here in WI, FMJ are illegal and I would assume these would easily be taken as such. Would carrying the box top with be sufficient proof if the DNR were to question? Or, would you be in a heap of dookie?

bryce - you might find some good information here on barnes's website. i ahve never used them, but if i remember correctly, i got good accuracy out of them with a few 180-grain bullets that were loaded for my .308. in spite of the accuracy, my worry was that it would be too big and too tough for deer. as for the "legal" ramifications, check on wiscnsin's fish and game site, but i don't think you would have any trouble using them. these are designed to expand (on the right game using the right weights) whereas the fmj is designed specifically not to expand. |

They expand just fine. And in theory they should cause less tissue damage than a conventional soft point or ballistic tip. They wouldn't qualify as a full metal jacket as there is a hole in the end and they are pre-stressed to expand on impact.

They work well but I don't like them. I didn't get any better accuracy out of my rifle while using them and I did get a lot more copper fouling. They seem to be made of a softer copper than a lot of other bullets. I know guys that love them and have had good luck with terminal performance. |

Thanks! I have not seen them in person yet, just adds, so I was not aware they were a HP design. From the pic they look like a full point.
I'm not sure if is anything I'd use either, just gathering info and opinions. Got more? Keep them coming? Success or failure stories also. |
