Morning MT Neighbors (and everyone else)  >>  They say our limited permit drawings are 'sposed to be done the third week in Aug.  Can't help but notice we be in the third week.  Been monitoring the FWP web site for updates and now can't bring it up since Mon. evening.  Anyone else tried accessing it with any success lately?  Later.  >>  klallen

OK, forget the concern.  Looks like she's back on.

Special Update on the Deer, Elk & Antelope Drawing
Montana's Deer, Elk, & Antelope special license/permit drawing will take place during the week of August 18. Results will be posted to the website with in minutes of the official completion of the drawing. The drawing is expected to be complete by August 22.  FWP is processing more than 176,000 applications from about 97,000 hunters for special Deer, Elk & Antelope license/permits, an increase of over 7% from 2002.

Klallen;

Thanks, tried to get the draw up this morning & couldn't even get the page up.  I don't know what's going on with the state site, but I'm wondering when we, the common public, will be able to see the results.  I have my doubts that it will be the 24th.  I recollect back to the computer ALS# fiasco with the state computers.

Well, CB, today's the day.  If they know what they're talking about, we should see results sometime.  You're probably right, though.  Won't even be there come the 24th.  Oh well.  I'll still be checking come this evening, for sure.  Just in case.  G-luck to ya.  >>  klallen

when it comes to antelope, i am surprised that they make residents draw for them. the population is huge and in no danger of "overhunting."

it would make sense to me just to issue X number of tags per district and make it a first-come/first-serve thing.

In the area that I put in for, 75 were handed out.  Statistically, 308 applied for those 75 permits last year.  Not great chances, but crud, once in 6 years for me.  My dad's put in eight straight and never drawn one.  I've not got report back from the brother on him and his wife's success, but I'm not optimistic.  He's drawn twice in several years applying.  I agree with ya, it just shouldn't be this hard with as many animals as there are out there.  Guess that's just more time for the Mulies.  Not a bad thing, I suppose.  Off to bed to sleep the disappointment off  ;o)  .

Fella's;

Elk, el-uh-uh.  Antelope, successful.  And I agree, drawing for antelope is a waste.  But I got the one & general license hunting on elk this year.  Hum Bah-Bug!
