Slings and Swivels

   Fella's;
Since we're shortly to be into the seasons, that means actually carrying & using our rifles somewhere besides the bench.  Which brings me to the subject at hand.
How many here use 1" slings on the gun?  Except for the stupid Ruger synthetic stocks with the European, not-very-easily-replaced system, any reason why?
I like the 1.25" sling myself, I find that on a long haul it doesn't cut into my shoulder as much as the narrower 1" strap.  I also like to use the full Whelan military type sling, since I use it for more than a carrying strap.  Yet there are those who swear by the 'Cobra' type sling.  I also like leather rather than nylon.  I feel I get more support & less sharp edge cutting type pressure with the leather when using it as a shooting support.
Although Boyt & others make good leather slings, I prefer the Turner's.  All sewn, not clamped construction.  True parkerized metal,  mil-spec throughout.  Beautiful full-grain leather.
Because I do shoot from the bench, I also prefer the QD type swivels.  The sling does sort of get in the way & therefore affects accuracy from the bench.  I haven't found any reason to use anything other than the common Uncle Mike's found in any store around here.
What do you guys do?

	I use the Butler Creek slings and doubt I'll ever change, they are the best I've tried.

	I like a 3/4 " sling, leather or synthetic. I like detachable mounts, as I seldom carry a rifle when hunting with a sling on it. Detachables are noisy. I take it out of my fanny pack, and put it on after I'm done hunting.

	I know ONE other shooter/hunter besides myself who uses an honest to God sling, as opposed to a carrying strap. Lot's of people have no idea how usefula slingis as a shooting aid.

	I'm with Waksupi here. I hunt the thick timber and the QD's make too much noise. There usaully isn't enough time to get into a sling for an aid in shooting here.Sure as anything , you'll jump an elk when you have the gun slung across your shoulder. Taking of the sling makes it not happen

	The wider the sling the less it will redesign your shoulder by the end of the day. I use 1 1/4" G.I. type slings from Hunters on QD swivels. Lawdog

	Triggerguard hit it right on the head. Be carefull talking about slings around riflemen. Another thing is never to mix carrying straps with slings.........Kingpin
