Topic: Help town economy Posted: 20 June 2003 at 16:22 |
Ok, I have a serious and legitimate dilema here. Should i get a Ruger 77/50 muzzleloader, which is being sold by a guy in my town for a great price, which was also assembled in my town, and the owner of Ruger is in my town, or should I buy tradtional from cabelas and help who the hell knows economy. If I got the Ruger, I could go to hunting camp without shame seeing as I hunt on Mr. Ruger's land and sometimes hunt WITH him. If I got the cabelas one, for more money, I wouldnt be able to use it while he was around, because it would make him angry, therefore i wouldnt be able to use it as much. So should I go cheaper, inline, better for my town and my hunting-or go with traditional, dont even know if made in USA, and not being able to hunt as much with it, and for more money. If i went with the inline, i would shoot conicals ahead of black powder still, just not patch and ball.

Well, i guess there is going to be a new Ruger in the family. I know you traditional guys wont be pleased that i went the inline way, but my next muzzleloader, I swear on the Bible is going to be a traditional one.

Dont you worry tacks, i am also getting a Lyman GPR kit gun. Percussion .54 caliber. I wont be able to hunt with it much because it is so god damn heavy, but it would be a nice wall hanger until i can. And it would be something that i am proud of.

Now I understand you devoted nature for Ruger.
I will say that Mr. Ruger would be a VERY small minded person to be mad at you for using a competitors product. If he made a big deal out of it I would think a lot less of him. He would be fine to complain jokingly. Buisness is buisness, and even he should respect the need to stray from a monopoly.
In other words, even though it is too late, get what you want, not what you think people you hang with want you to get. Ignore peer presure, you'l live longer.

I'll bet you Ruger owns other firearms than what are made there. Probably lots.

Not Mr. Ruger JR. He owns like 1 firearms that isnt a Ruger. He may get the old man's collection but he doesnt know if he wants to spend that kind of money because of the inheretance tax. If he did get the collection, i would have to be making a visit over there

I wonder if the situation would be different if someone "gave" you a present of the traditional rifle? One would not be expected to despise a gift.
Cheers from Grayest California,

Next time your chatting with Mr. Ruger, ask him what he thinks of the Brady bill.

O Horrors, not a Cukafornian! Well, i wont predjutice you against where you live, so WELCOME ABOARD ROSS! Hey Dempsey, is that Brady bill the one about the not sueing gun manufacturers for stuff and stuff? I cant remember exactly what it is about but i did that thingy and sent the email to my senators and i actually got a letter back which my family believes was actually written by the Senator! Who woulda thunk it.
