Finally got my hands on one at Cabela's gun room.  Dang this wasn't even broke in, and of course they wanted $1,700 fer it.  Smooth, real smooth action.  Don't know if I like how it locked up, but I like how it handled.  Should be a hell of a saddle gun, thin enough but rock solid.  Oh ya, it weren't light either, all steel.

The cartridge they come in is the thing that interests me the most! That .348 Winnie seems to be perfect for anything in North America, as long as you can get close enough to prongies and mulies. Good medicine for bear too.

Think I'd have to shot one for I really get hooked, but it sure felt nice.  Really reminded me of a old west lever gun.

Check out www.gunbroker.com. I bet you can find some for less than 1700 bucks. They do look like a WInchester, rugged, dependable. I wouldnt mind having one if i could get my hands on one. Maybe Mr. Ruger SR had one some where inside his vast firearms collection. Then i could maybe buy it off of MR. Ruger JR. for a decent price!

Selway and skinner both have M71's I have the Win. 71 1939 24" barrel....Miroku built thiers and from what I have seen and heard is they are equal to or better than the Win.'s

I picked mine up for $800 Can...and I have been seeing  sum on gunsamerica.com for a reasonable sum.

Anyone that comes up here to visit is more than welcome"spot,tj and NH" to shoot my 348...hope to get others hooked like /I did. In fact going on a hunt this year for elk, moose and sheep and it is going to be my main gun.

I dont think i will be able to come and visit BCBOY. Alas, i am on the east coast of the United States about 70 miles from Canada, or at least i think it is about that far. I will check out gunsamerica for those though. WOW THOSE THINGS ARE EXPENSIVE!!!! The cheapest Winnie 71 there is $995!! I dont have that kind of money and i dont want to spend that kind of money on a gun just yet. I just cant afford it!
