Help guys Fella at work has this pistol and ask me to find out what it's worth,I'm coming up blank. It's a SAA Jager made in Italy in .30 Carbine. I have found some of the Same make but only on the internet in standard calibers. I have looked in the new Blue Book and the Firearms CP&R guide nothing It has EMF under the barrel. In the books all I can find in .30 C is the Blackhawks and one called the Great Western. It looks like the GW and it says they had guns made from different countries. So I'm thinking to go by that for him,he says he thinks the gun was bought in the late 60's early 70's ? Help.

Armi Jager made lots of SSA and most wrer sold in the USA. EMF was one of their importers. They were very inexpensive plinkers (lots in 22 rf). I doubt it has any collector value. and AJ is long out of business. quality was fair at best. 30 carbine was popular in the mid 60-70s. I have a 30 carbine Ruger, very accurate. The AJ SSA is worth something only as a shooter, while I like that cartridge in the SSA...few other do. MY swag would be$150 to $225 depending on condition and how bad the buyer wants a 30 carbine revolver!!! |

Not to mention the plow handle grips that allow the hammer to cut you between the thumb and forefinger. I still like it though. It has a lot of snot on it traveling down range............Kingpin

Tikka, did you shoot it? More importantly, did you buy it? I have been thinking about it and think I may be interested. If he hasn't sold it, and if you don't want it, let me know what he wants for it, and I just may take it..........................Kingpin

Hey There Yes I did what a neat little gun,I shot it 12 times at a water bottle at 25 yards and hit it 8,that don't seem like much for you gunslingers but for me thats pretty good. LOL No I don't want it,like to but got other things in the fire right now. If you want he's gone for the holiday,I'll ask what he wants for it when he gets back. I'll see if I can get it and take more pictures if you want to,let me know. Edited by Tikkabuck |

No not at all it's pretty sweet shooting really. What we were shooting out of it it were some Winchester white box ammo and some lake city stuff, looked fairly old. They both seemed to shoot well but he had a little trouble chucking out the lake city brass,he had to push a little harder where the Winys just slid on out. Soon as he gets back I'll give him a shout.

thanks Tika for updating this post.......I think that is pretty steep for that particular revolver, even tho it looks to be a "3 screw" version, I believe, even if I had a real yearning for a .30 Carbine, I'd rather go for a new model Ruger for a couple $C's more. Edited by Irish Bird Dog |

For the price it should be a good buy and fun to shoot.
Many years ago I had a Ruger Blackhawk in 30 carbine. I loved it and very sorry I had to part with it due to money problems and a handicapped child. But the one thing I found was to load for for the revolver. Factory 30 carbine was too hot for the short barrel. It was not a danger or safety issue but just not accurate in the short barrel. When I loaded down using IMR 4227 and 110g bullet it was sweet and on target. Rod |

I also use to shoot the Blackhawk in 30 carbine. It shot fine with those cheap white box win loads. those loads are no longer cheap, actually pretty expensive now, as is anything 30 carbine. this thread is 2 years old now.....KP is probably shooting it as we speak.
