Fishing in Southwest Saskatchewan

Most of my experience is on the East/central side around Tobin lake.
There were fish everywhere but we found it saved a lot of time by
hiring Indian guides for a few hours and try and get a feel where they
liked to go then drop them off with some beer as a tip and go out on
our own. The best fishing is north of the Canadian Sheild but not much
for roads, mostly fly-in. I'm not sure what you're used to but the lakes
up there are cut out of granite, a lot different than the sandy bottoms
I'm used to. Nobody had a fiberglass boat. Bring a patch kit and a
couple props or your jet boat. Also remember gas is going to be about
a dollar a gallon more. Myself I'd rent but with as many people you
have I don't know?

I have been going to lake Wapaweka (sp) with my dad about every other year for the last 10 or 12 years. Thats about 40 miles westish of LaRonge. Some Walleye fishing, but mostly Northern Pike. We rent a cabin and a boat. A little more expensive, but we dont have to worry about anything. For something like $100.00 we get insurance and that covers the bent props that deaddog was talking about.
