We've done the rifle survey.  So now, what is your favorite handgun?

I can easily say mine is the Smith & Wesson Model 29.  Give it to me in 8&3/8s", 6&1/2", 6", or 4" and I'll be happy.  I've never met a S&W 29 that I didn't like.  I'm not talkin' about the 629 Classics with the full underlug.  Just the regular Model 29's.

Do you have a favorite?

Oh God, I think I know what NH might say on this.

Somebody better call the Secret Service. Let 'em know there's an illegal alien in the White House...and it ain't the cook!!

My most favorite would be the Colt New Frontier in 44 special. My second favorite would be the Blackhawk in 45 colt.
The most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.

I like all my handguns, but do have some favorites: 1911 pistols, and single action revolvers, particulary the Kimber 1911s and the Ruger SA in .32 H&R.

my favorite handgun is my colt 1911.

Fella's;

Hard to say, I don't have 'a' favorite.  See my comments on Spot's thread of:  If you could only have one.

I tend to use different pistols for varied purposes.  I also don't tend to keep safe queens.

I do think I need a new big-bore revolver though.

My all time favorite is my Mod 28 S&W Highway Patrolman with a 6" barrel. It's an N Frame .357, the same as a Mod 27, without all that brilliant shine. The concept is brilliant and the gun itself is virtually bullet proof abuse wise...............Kingpin

My Smith 686 shines at the range, but the old Ruger Secuity Six 4 5/8 .357 is my favorite to pack when in the saddle . If I"m hunting and don't have a rifle, then it's my Ruger 44 mag Blackhawk with a 4 5/8 barrel. My carry gun is Smith 2" Model 66 or an Interarms 9mmm. Of course the three 22's I have  a Smith, a Rossi, and an old Iver Johnson see a lot of range time too. I have .357 Blackhawk with a 6" barrel that hardly comes out of the safe. If I had to get rid of them all and only keep one,it would be the Smith 686. I did have a model 29 years ago, and have always regretted selling it. Can't ever remember what I bought with the procedes. probablya refrigerator or soemething stupid like that.

My favorite is one that the factory never built; a S&W 38/44 heavy duty in 45 Colt. But Hamilton Bowen builds them!

Hmmm . . . for field use, a Colt Officer's Model Target in .22 LR.  I carry this gun more than any other.  Next most frequent is an Argentine M1927 (basically a 1930s era Colt) with a Colt Ace conversion kit.

For defense, a Kimber Custom Classic in .45 ACP -- although sometimes I carry a Colt Detective Special instead.

For a large caliber field gun, I really like my Colt New Service in .45 Colt, with 7 1/2" barrel.

  For carrying and range trips my Kimber 1911 and for walking through the woods  my Smith Mod. 13, first two cyl, loaded with snake shot and hollow points for the rest.  The copperheads cringe at the word Smith and Wesson.
