Howdy Tas

90% of the Fur i take is called, at an average distance of about 60-70yds, the other 10% is taken by Scopelighting(nitehunting) and long range hunting, whereas i will spot a distant target and set up over the hood, mostly with my heavy guns like my 6-284(37lbs) and 22-284(17lbs) which were specifically built for this purpose, i do no trapping of any kind, but someday would like to apply some snaring to my trade.

I trap and snare coyotes. It is a lot more productive than calling. The big secret to numbers of fur animals is exposure to numbers of litters. With traps and snares I can keep equipment on there travelways 24/7.

Kickback

Welcome,  just curious, how many Coyotes or predators in general did you trap or snare this past season? Also, if you dont mind,  how'd you make out on the Market  with your goods?

Blaine Eddy I didn't trap last fall.I moved and started a new job.I have kept up a 7 a day coyote average while working a full time job.High day numberwise was 23.I bought  your fur handling video. After I watched it once my Black Lab puppy snatched it off the counter and destroyed it.She ate at least 1/2 the video. She may have taken offense to the "dog" reference.

I usually quit in late Nov or into Dec.Lots of damage, rubbed coyotes. Some years you only get 2 weeks with leg holds then have to go to snares. Our population seems to be down,West Nile?

Blaine- Did you ever get a good price on all those hides? Did you ever find that valley full of beaver, "Beaver, as many as stars in the sky" , saying "Take me Blaine Eddy, take me!"

I used to trap rabbits for Akubra hats when I was young and enjoyed getting up early and running a line. But now its mostly foxes under spotlight with a 17.

Hope you had a good season Blaine.

QS45 LOL!

Most of the Fur i harvested is still hangin out in my Fur shed/Cold Room, never got the offer i was looking for or i should say the $$ i was promised in October which was $45, I have sold a couple Dozen or so via the internet and did quite a bit better than $45 but, still have about 70 left to move, i'll be hunting for that valley again this season, but for coyotes rather than beaver. this Nov i'm going to have on board a 3-5 cubic ft freezer so i can stay out longer and not have to worry about slipped pelts. i figure i can freeze down around 20-25 pelts easy. Macca: how ya doin bud, havent heard from you in a while, i finished the season with 104 dogs, my partner and i together damn near hit the 200 mark, he hasnt sold his yet either, i recently designed a new little 17cal cartridge based on the BR case, it is a .225"short .17BR with a .230nk length and .192nk dia, i have two barrels ordered , a Pac-nor and a Lawrence, how's the fox huntin going, knowing you, you are putting a serious dent in their numbers with your .17's, i'm looking in to getting a couple HID Lights for my Toyota 4x4 and use my Lightforce Striker much more often. how did you make out $$ wise on your Fur? Take care fellers, in only 5 months  life will be worth living again.........Blaine

Hi Blaine, our season kicks of now.Pelts last year were averaging $25 after being promised closer to $40.Sounds like our dealers may be in cahoots!

You certainly racked up some fur!!!Good on ya mate.

That 17 sounds like it may just sizzle.I look forward to reports on fps etc when your barrels arrive.

I still thankyou greatly every time I go out after foxes man. My 17 is getting tired and I'm hoping it will see this coming season out and that the pelts will cover a new barrel.

The HID sounds the way to go.After barrel mounting my lightforce I wonder why the hell I didn't go that way ages ago(another thankyou for that as well).

Do you still pour concrete during the summer?

Have a good one Macca
