Blaine,

It's time fer me to start cuttin down the heard here.  Haven't heard from you in a bit - when do you start calling?  I might actually see if I can find a dealer here, bothers me that I'm killin these just to knock down the heard of yotes tearin up the turkeys.  Anyway, any field reports from your hunts?

BTW- when you skin do you keep the paw's or cut them off?

I wont start hittin em till the first of Nov, The Fur will be plenty good by then, not the best, but plenty good. I hunt full time out of state, so I wont be able to post much after Nov 1, but I'll try and stop in whenever i can. As far As Skinning with the feet on? I rarely do it, unless I'm saving one for a friend who plans on Tanning it or having a Rug made. Most Coyotes are going to the Trim Trade and do not require the feet left on. It wont be long now and I'll be puttin the Hammer Down on the Coyotes and Bobcats. It does me good to hear that you are considering putting up your Coyotes.  Good Hunting this Winter.......Blaine

Blaine,

I'll be hittin the bobcat's here pretty hard, we got ton's of them here in Ks.  Not as easy as yotes but that's ok.  What states do you go to, from what we were saying last year the fur on yotes from KS aren't worth much.  However, I'm real close to Missouri?

Anywho, good luck hunting, if you wander into Nebraska, Iowa, or Missouri let me know maybe I'll spend a weekend with ya learning the ropes.  Still got to find a fur dealer, last year I talked with one in Topeka and he told me $7 to $12 for a yote - $35 for a cat.

Good hearin from ya,

Spot

Mostly i hunt UT for Cats and Id, WY and Nev for dogs. I know of a Fur Hunter from Neb that got a $28 average on his Coyotes last season, his name is Quinton Waggoner, he posts over on Hunt and Lodge .com. he kills alot of Coyotes every year and might could provide you with some solid info on cat prices as well in your region, I would suggest hunting North and Higher Elevations if possible. I myself have traveled over 600 miles one way to get to the Better Fur and higher Densities, of course i dont have any work in the Winter months so I hunt Full time. I'm guessing you can do much better than a $7-$12 Coyote and MUCH better than a $35 Cat , How you present your Pelts, or the quality of your put-up will Greatly affect the $$$ offered for your Fur, For well Handled goods you should pull a $25-$30 average on your Coyotes and perhaps a $125-$150 on your Cats in your Region, I would consider these figures conservative.   Good Hunting Spot.......Blaine
