I've owned a Springfield 03A3 for 60+ years, a great shooter in DCM comp, and all original.  But I seldom used it, my eyes are no longer conducive to iron sights.   And when I took it to the range, guys would all want to buy it.  But I held off, so the old girl became a safe queen.

Then one of our members plied me with clear liquid, and seems I agreed to sell it to him.  I'm happy It has a good home, and Alex will shoot it also.

At my stage in life, I should be getting rid of guns...but I'm weak.

So, the next day thru the efforts of another BBS member, I got a like new Kimber 8400 Walnut in 7 mag.  Yesterday I got the scope bases, rings and scope all together, and off to the range.  So, I sort of swapped the place in my gun safe.

Well, the old A3 shot great, it's replacement makes .75 MOA at 100 yards.  So, with mt bad eyes I have a beautiful rifle I can shoot with my bad eyes (scope).

Thanks to both members, I'm a happy camper.

PS, the 7 mag Kimber will knock the snot out of you, a little pain is forgivable!

I'm glad to hear you have no regrets and the Kimber shoots that good.

Was that with hand loads or factory? Either way it doesn't sound like you have worked up a handload. That says a lot about the rifle.

I think you could leave it alone and be fine but I know you wont. I wouldn't either.

I'm thinking long range antelope gun.

For a Kimber, it is heavy with that long barrel; but feels great to me.

Next years antelope gun for sure.  Might even test it against any 1903-A3 that shows up.  LOL

It will be interesting to see if it's used in the big competition next year.

It's about time for the traveling trophy to spend a year in PA.
