well, I've never owned a foreign car.  sort of keep the jobs in the USA, type  guy.

Wife's car has problems, she wants another.  I like to buy new.

Well, she wants a 4 door sedan, none made America any longer except high performance.

Just no one making a Ford focus nor a Chevy Cruise.

I guess I lived too long to support the American worker.

i will find it difficult to look at a honda civic my driveway!

Have you looked at something like a Buick Enclave?
I don't know if there even still made but we love ours. We are both short so I but running boards on.
BUT it is very easy to get into and more so OUT of.
You sit up higher for better all round vision. We get 19 mph and it is all wheel drive. Don't say no till you try one all the GM divisions made one, there is a two row and a three row version, ours id 3.
MY wife Loves it.

Wife hates SUV/crossover boxy looking vehicles.

I think a small USA manufacter's  AWD is perfect for a 81 year old.  But she doesn't like the "image"!!!

i'm just a husband.

What's wrong with high performance?

Chances are she wouldn't test it, and it would be fun for you on the days she needs it filled up with gas, the oil changed, washed, etc.
