I just pu'd a .45 Colt Beretta Marshall Stampede.  I've shot it w/Cowboy loads (a 250 at about 750fps).  Tis a dream to shoot w/those loads.

I've searched the manual and their website for the answer to my question and can't find it.  How strong is the gun?  I assume that it can handle a normal .45LC load, as the manual doesn't say anything about that.  But can it handle something that would considered +P or Corbon, or BuffaloBore, which I think, is at .44 mag pressure levels.

Stinky;

I'm not the expert on this one, but I'm thinkin' that it was made to be a CAS gun.  I don't believe I'd be pushin' the high end of the pressure charts with it.  Strength is most likely no more than the original Peacemaker.

What 900f said.......and note this

...Any gun that is built to the original Colt SAA specs will not be capable of the high end loads like you asked about....better to be safe then not.  The key here is "built to Colt SAA specs"....check the top strap to see how heavy/thick it is...that would be a first clue....& the cylinder walls thickness too.....find the specs for a Colt to compare your findings with and then check out a Ruger Blackhawk in the same caliber for it's specs to see the difference.

The Beretta Stampede Owners Manual says not to use ammo that exceeds specs for SAAMI standards of the cartridge listed on the gun. RD

Thanks.  Rocky, I looked high and low and could not find any such thing in the manual.  It must have been out in the open, or else I would have seen it.

But I did find something about it, echoing what you all said in Wikipedia on the .45LC page.  The last paragraph under "Cartridge Loads"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.45_Colt

Funny, tis the story of my life...I look and look and don't find, give up and it appears out of nowhere.
