Just finished up carving for the summer and thought I'd post a pic. This eagle resides along the Iowa/MN border near Jeffers, MN.2004-08-17_163652_Lohre_Eagle.jpg

The carving looks great! However the beak looks just a little oversize in that picture. Sometimes pictures do that I suppose. I myself take lousy pictures for the most part. What else have you got to show us? |

Hey, I like that fish and dragonfly. That would be really cool in a shallow backyard pond. So when does school start? |

Started on the 16th for us teachers and on the 17th for the kids. Kinda nice to be back at it, guy gets tired of traveling around after a summer of it.

Love that BEAR. What wood did you gue? Any PEG on it? Do you think it will crack with time? Those crack sometimes add to the true nature of the art work, but i hate to see it age too bad. Any exterior coating?? BEAR |

The bear is carved from jackpine and coated with several coats of polyurethane. That particular bear was carved from a seasoned piece of wood and will not show any further cracking (checking) of a significant nature. Most pieces that you see with large cracks were carved from a green piece of wood - the checking occurs as the moisture in the wood evaporates.
