Hey guys, just wondering if anyone is going on any camping trips over the summer. I am thinking about doing one myself in the area that i hunt so then i can learn the territory a little bit better. I was thinking about trying a week long camping trip. What would i need to bring. I would have to plan for wet weather, but no snow or anything. Lows would be the 50's. The area isnt too large and there are no fish in the area that i know of.

What would i do for food? What would i need for a pack? I am going to try to get my dad to get a wall tent, and then use that as a base camp, or ask mr. ruger (since it is his land) if i can build a little camp on it taht i could use during hunting season as well. If i had the camp, then i would be able to have the food and stuff that i would need. If it was a wall tent, then i would probably set it up the weekend before, and then move in supplies all that week until the trip.

For footwear, i would use Cabelas boots that i got last year. They were $99 last time i checked. They give me good ankle support and comfortable. For clothes, i am not sure what to wear. I was hoping you guys could fill me in on that part. I would wear wool socks, so as to have extra cushioning and to have the sweat absorbtion capabilities.

I would probably bring along the savage mk2 gl .22 bolt for a camp gun. Either that or a winchester 94 .30-30. So guys, what do you think?

Yep I'm going camping. I'll unhook the 29' camper. Plug in the electricity turn on the air conditioning start the hot water heater, plug in the cable for the TV, open up the awning so I can roll out the indoor-outdoor carpeting underneath it. Unload the precut firewood next to the fire pit and get out the lighter fluid and propane torch to start it. Open the freezer and pull some steaks out to defrost.

I remember the type of camping your talking about and I miss it. Wait until you get yourself a family and try and pack in a weeks worth of diapers which isn't so bad but the pack the full ones out a week later. You can't bury them they're not biodegradeable. Oh the good O'l days....

NH,

We've got a tent (cheapo nylon one) and may try to get out if the weather in KS straightens out.  We just about skipped spring this year.

I'll be on the Little Bow River in Alberta, Ca. next weekend. Then in two weeks, will be camped at a BP shoot west of Kalispell, Mt. Immediately after that, I leave for S.E. Iowa to fish and shoot with family. After that, I will be continuing to the High Plains Rendezvous along the Missouri River in North Dakota. Third weekend in July, I'll be camped at Fawn Creek, along the Fisher River near Libby, Mt. for another BP shoot. Then back to Alberta for the month of August. September will see archery elk camp on the south fork of the Flathead River, hunting in the Great Bear Wilderness. Rifle season will see me in the same area. After that, nothing again until February for the mountainman winter camp.
