Last week, I got a gun that I didn't know about. It was a Mod 63 S&W, in the box with all the other stuff, like the bill of sale date, Oct 10, 1982. Initally it was described to me as a Mod 17, which I was anxiously anticipating. I got one HELL of a deal on it. The guy sad he doubted if he even fired a box of shells through it. I thought I had something unique, until I checked back in here, and there were pics of a few that NL (no suprise) had, along with a couple others. Anyway, I am still looking for a Mod 17. Just thought I would mention the now plain Jane revolver. Well, at least I have it...........................Kingpin

Kingpin;

OK, is it a new one with the goofy neon plastic sights, 5" barrel, and an eight shot cylinder, or the pre-goofy version?  C'mon man, details!

I don't have a model 17 to trade ya, but I'd sure think about trading something for the proper 63.

You need to get a four wheel drive & visit big sky country.

Tikka and Kingpin

If you guys make it to Big Sky Country and dont make the short trip to Wonderful Wyoming to see old Wing, I might get my feelings hurt.

Or better yet, I can make the short trip and we all can get some of that fresh air together.

I thought I would volonteer to buy the beer, but with 900f being there I might just buy the first round.

I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

It has the bought date of 1982 taped to the outside of the box with the buyers name on it, 4" bbl, 6 shot, hardly, if ever shot, but I plan to change the latter. It sure is a sweet looking little wooden grip baby. Wing, a word to the wise, I hear CB uses beer like he uses oxygen, that first round might get pricey....LOL............Kingpin

I love my S&W Model 63 J frame wheelgun! Usually makes the trip with me each time I go to the range. My wife likes to shoot the Ruger MkII semi & I plink away with the little stainless wonder. They are cool!

That said, the S&W Model 17 is a beautiful piece, too! On the larger K frame a lot nicer grip, especially if one has larger hands. Been looking for a reasonably prices one up here for some time with no luck. No one wants to part with them. Many years ago the Royal Canadian Mounted Police [when they still carried S&W Model 10 5" barrel .38 Special revolvers as standard uniform issue] also had S&W 17's with 6" barrels in inventory for practice for their police reserve program. RCMP marked S&W 17's sell for a premium up here. Our local gunshop has a real minty one but they want $800 Cdn for it.

I had typed a lengthy reply to the above but it disappeared when I tried to post it. But the short answer is: No, handguns are not verboten in Canada if one has a Canadian federal firearms Possession & Acquisition Licence [PAL]. Mine allows me to own, what are classified in our law, both restricted and prohibited handguns.
