Sort of funny how a young person gets trapped in an old persons body. It just happens slowly.
But Tom, I seldom carry a 50# pack any longer. now I spend lots of time figuring out how to take everything I need in a 20# pack or how I can just make two trips enjoying the same woods twice. We can adjust to old bodies, IF our minds can keep up.

Decades ago, my father and I packed into Shelly Lake, a respectable climb from Kidder Creek. We were carrying about 45 pounds apiece, and pooped out a little more than halfway up. We stashed about half the stuff and went back for it the next day after a night's sleep at the lake. It was Labor Day weekend and we were escorted out Sunday afternoon by the first snow storm of the year...

Used to backpack into the Adirondacks. Often found abandoned 'stuff' along the trail...usually heavy items, like a brass gas stove, coleman laterns, etc.

Don't give up Bear, I am going to 81 in August and I am still Hunting and Fishing. I will do so for as long as I can, Yeah, I have all the aches and pains associated with getting older, and I have a disabled Hunting permit that allows me to use my four wheeler when hunting. Age is just a number and I wont let it pin me down. I haven't missed an opening day for hunting season since 1963 and I don't plan on missing any in the near future.
Stay with it and enjoy life while you can.

Spent this morning taring the roof to my cabin. As a 17 year old I did lots of jobs, roofing was one. Now I'm 75 and tar coating a roof. Guess some things don't change (legs and back are a little sore now).
Refitting some doors tomorrow, then fishing for muskies in the evening. Like timex, taking a licking but keeps on ticking.

Back, hip, knee a litle tender this morning...too much twisting around on the roof.
Got a nest of Virginia wrens outside my window; woke me up at 5:05 shouting. They are on their third brood right now.

Big storm yesterday. We have a small beach/dock with 7 families, seven boats. We lost 2 boats and half the dock. 28 foot pontoon and new jet boat. Lucky mine was perfect; maybe because I've seen this 17 mile long lake kick hard before.
Nice since 7 people share cost; will not be more than a few hundred apiece for dock. every one is on their own for boats, but we all try to help get the beached pontoon back in. Well the 8 hours of heaavy rain, was a perfect test of the tar job...no leaks. Seems to me Gary you are catching up to me???
