With the popularity of 6.5 creed, 6.5x55, and 260 Rem, just wondering about strong bullets.

For antelope and whitetail I've found the 123 gr Hornady SST works very well.

But, for larger game Elk say, what bullet would work best?

I shot an elk cow with an 80gr TTSX in my 6mm 3800 fps.
Dead elk DBL lung shot.

Nice pic D.  you nailed that one.

My son is using a creedmore 6.5.

he shot a Red Stag  this week, in re-timber lands about 300 yards give or take.  bullet when a little high in shoulder, missed the lungs (his target) and missed the shoulder and spine.  sort of the slight off shot that more bullet would have helped.  Stag went down but took another shot as it tried to get up.

Bullet was a 140gr ELD-x.  that is a hollow pointed plastic tipped bullet.  Bullet did not appear to exit.  we need to look at the hide for better info.  Shot was in Scotland where I hunted in Sept.  Tough to get it out, had to wait for next day and a LOOOONG  winch.  But it was ok as temp was low.

He can't reload, but I would have preferred a 180 gr or a cor-loc bullet.

Your swede is a longer action and can take the long copper bullets without cutting into the case powder capacity.

I have only shot one elk with my Swede. I used a 130 grain Sierra Gamechanger. The shot was just under 200 yards and the cow elk ran about 20 feet and was dead when I got to it.

They work great on antelope too. A couple years ago I shot an antelope at about 300 yards and it went in through a rib on one side. turned the lungs into jello, and exited through a rib on the other side. the exit hole was about the size of a quarter.

Since then they have came out with a 6.5 140 grain Gamechanger. I plan on trying them as soon as I run out of the 130 grainers.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.
