I keep getting WY ads for the super tag.

they never tell the drawing cost, nor the cost IF you
win the drawing.

Sounds interesting but if they want to sell tickets to
out of state they need to think, and tell people what it
costs and what your chances are.

Seems they have a preference point system, which they
tell me. But to someone out of state and a first time
buyer...Preference points are a negative sales device.

Anybody enter these drawings????

BEAR;

Montana doesn't have the same thing, but I do know they
have something like it. I've never bothered.

If the price is just a $10 raffle ticket...might be a fun
chance. Seems Wyoming lets the winner pick 3 of the 6 big
game animals, and the best WMA.

Moose/elk/mulie tags would be great.

In Montana the super tags are hard to get but are like winning the big game hunting lottery. They work like this. If you get the tag you are allowed to hunt for that animal ANYWHERE in the state that has a legal hunting district for that particular animal. Think about what I just said.. Say you draw the super tag for a big horn sheep, it allows you to hunt a sheep in any sheep district in the whole state. With normal sheep tags you are limited to a very small specific area, if you don't see a good ram to bad you have to take what you get. With the super tag you just keep hunting in different areas until you find the best sheep you can. The same is true for all the super tags (moose, sheep, goat, elk etc.) for the $10 per tag it is worth it even if the odds are terrible.

lotteries? what cost.

In MT you just pay $5 cost of lottery ticket, must have conservation license first.

Bear, here is the information I found on the Super and trifecta tags.
It looks like you still have to but the tag and select the area you are going to hunt when you buy your tags.

If you're talking MT hunting roster, that's game damage hunts, not super tag.

MT's super tag, if you win, the license is included, not additional expense.

You could win a Hunt of a Lifetime!

Go to the Online Licensing Service.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is once again offering a SuperTag lottery for hunters to take another shot at the dream.
Eight lucky hunters will win a SuperTag license. SuperTag chances are available for moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, antelope, elk, deer, bison, and mountain lion. One SuperTag will be drawn for each species. The SuperTag can be used in any hunting district in Montana-including Montana's legendary trophy districts. Revenue from the new SuperTag sales is used to enhance hunting access and boost FWP enforcement efforts.

Purchase Deadlines
Deadline to purchase SuperTags is:
Moose, sheep, goat, deer, elk, antelope, bison, and mountain lion - June 29, 2017

How to Purchase
You must have a current year's conservation license to purchase SuperTag chances. An unlimited number of chances may be purchased at $5 per chance. To purchase chances online go to FWP's Online Licensing Service. You’ll receive a receipt verifying purchase that lists your lottery numbers. SuperTag chances are also available for purchase at FWP offices and license providers.

Drawing Date
SuperTag drawings are held:
Moose, sheep, goat, deer, elk, antelope, bison, and mountain lion - mid-July each year

WY's super tag, appears to be open until July, to hunt this year and it appears, you still must purchase license to hunt, after you win super tag lottery.

Super Tag and Super Tag Trifecta raffles The Super Tag and Super Tag Trifecta raffles give hunters the chance to win an opportunity to purchase one or more of Wyoming’s most popular big game and trophy game licenses. • Super Tag tickets are $10 each. • Super Tag Trifecta tickets are $30 each. • Unlimited entries are allowed. • Tickets are available July 15, 2016 to July 3, 2017. • Raffle winners will be notified by July 15, 2017. • Winners must purchase any applicable licenses and/or stamps before hunting. • Tickets are not available from license-selling agents. Tickets must be purchased through the online Electronic License System. Visit a regional office to use a public computer to buy raffle tickets (and other licenses).
