The boy just bought a used john boat and it had a Merc 01 90 hp with jet drive on it and he wants to put a Mud devil on it. We where wondering what the motor and jet would be worth ? It doesn't look like it's been used very much... off_top_
A new one is $6923 plus the jet. Would $2000/$3000 be to much to expect?

don't have a clue to price of unit BUT just how big a jon boat is it that could handle a 90hp motor?????  GO-Devils & Mud Buddy's are kinda spendy too.  any pics of the whole unit as he bought it?  just nosy.

You have a 40% loss with a jet so a bout 45 HP to the water

My father used to build jon boats for commercial clammers. Solid 1" full Oak with Oakum packed between the joints. These were about 20 feet long with sides nearly 3 feet tall. A full 2" oak stern had 2 big kickers like that mounted on them. Mounted with a winch and boom midship to raise the clam hook booms. This was in the culured pearl boom of the 1960s. The shells were shipped to Japan in burlap sacks. They were ground into chips that were placed into oysters to stimulate the pearl growth. Nearly wiped out the Mississippi River clam beds. They still have not recovered. Probably never will. RD

can't say for sure; but a 10 year old merc would be about 2k, so with the jet $3000 seems good for a nice shapt rig.

these are big in the lower Missippi dwlta area and very big in Alaska for running shallow rivers.  Here in florida, no one uses tehm as they suck sand and grind the pump up.

I've used those after marke bolt on-s in None, locals love them
