The rifle manufacture seems to understand the young shooters today.  IF it is ugly, it must be more accurate, ie   precision/tacticle/MOA.

Out of my 40+ rifles the 4 most accurate al walnut with deep bluing, all sub MOA.

The poorest acuracy is a syn stock, SS fluted heavy barrel sniper rifle that I had custom made.

Walnut/maple and tank blued is IT  for me.

I agree Bear. I only have 3 plastic stocked rifles. The Sweed is showing some real potential, but My Sako Forrester .243 is my most accurate rifle.

I have always felt that beauty is in the eye. Ugly is a term that is very subjective. Fired a few side-by-side European rifles that patterned at saucer size at the 100m line. For six figures you would expect that such pieces of art would be lasers! Many a chassis gun is...for the sake of argument, tacticool. Butt ugly to a purist, but usually turns a MOA bolt gun into sub 1/2 MOA...ugly suddenly of new meaning. Nothing feels like an oil-rubbed chunk of well balanced walnut in my hands. I hate the feel of the plastics in rifles and handguns alike. For all weather I've discovered Hogue rubber stocks and could not be happier with them. They just do everything well except looking and feeling like the other options.
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!
