I love hunting spring turkey. In my state you can't stalk a tome, you must call him to you.
Usually I hunt with a crossbow, or flintlock. And try to get the bird within 20 yads, 10 is even better. Get one or two each year, love getting them in that close. I do use a single barrel Savage in 20 ga, about 70 years old, but I paid $35 in like new condition. BUT WOW They are selling a single break action with a hammer, 12 ga for S 687!!!! I guess camo tape makes it worth more.

I like to hunt them too.
We have like 3 in the state. In the past we have shot some it is fun to have them come in to shotgun range. We can pursue them or shoot them in the air, we can even shoot them in there roost tree if the time is right. In the fall season we can shoot them with anything, 50 BMG if we want. Hens, jakes or toms. We do a lot of spot and stock, no sense calling if there is no turkeys. Our BIGEST problem is snow in the spring. Not that they don't respond in the snow it's just hard to sneak up on them on your snowmobile. We will try this weekend.

I saw a single shot 12 gauge at Walmart a few days ago. It didn't look much like the Stevens they had years ago for $79.
And it was something like $139. Wing master
