Now that we have a topic on "what gun for a truck gun" via Wingmaster lets try this one.....

"Truck Gun Caliber"?????

Let's have YOUR opinion(s) on what Caliber YOU would pick for YOUR truck gun

Now there is no "best" truck gun maybe but we all might have a leaning to a certain caliber for whatever reason. So, there is no right or wrong opinion on this subject.

One factor that may dictate YOUR truck gun caliber is where you live and use your truck. Another may be what you might encounter to use your truck gun for/on....and so forth.

WE may even have a couple or a few "truck guns" for different purposes.

For me I picked a Scoped Ruger American LH in .223 Rem for one truck gun, most carried. Figuring for the occasional varmint I may happen across when out and about. Sometimes it could be a M94 Win 30-30 or even a Savage M24 O/U .22Lr/20ga.  However The list could include any scoped CF rifle you are willing to subject to everyday carry in your truck or any other rifle you may own. Handy would be best description to start with then durable, etc.

I have #742 in 308, fixed 4X scope with tapered post reticle, in overhead and AR behind seat. I've been thinking of switching to AR in 6.5 Grendel, with 1x6 scope, to cover both. I'm not sure, if I want it bouncing around though, it doesn't conceal in overhead as well.

I would have to say .223 since that's what I'm looking for.
But I do agree with Bear that a .243 would work for anything that might need shootin'.
