4 am and -10oF.
The deer head goes across the front of the grill and the tongue sticks out 18". Deer flies 75". Front of car is basicallt gone, antifreeze and freon escape; transmision self empties. No heat, you just wait for aa trooper, can't tow till a report is filled out. passengers need to get driver license check and get check for outsstanding warrants. 2hours pass, toes start to curl. Ride in small front seat with drive and 3 others. Get to hotel, 10 am....breakfast time...no 'otes seen or shot. Owner losses car--total.

I'm glad to hear you or your family weren't hurt. Sometimes it's good to drive like an old guy.

Can't be worse then that 8 point buck I hit with the Ducati! Guy smacked the brakes hard and hit it at about 15-20mph. Got lucky as those PT cruisers crumple easy.

Was heading home last night and we all had a great day with the in-laws and their german shepherd, all wanted me to hurry for..."home field advantage". I'm always the little old man driver as soon as the sun drops so I kept it reasonable. After the last rounds of "can you pick it up a bit or I'm not going to make it I started pointing out all the deer close to the road. Wasn't two miles later, 2 ran across in front of me and I had plenty of room to stop due to my reduced speed. I could see 2 more wanting to follow and flashed my lights as another car approached. He obviously ignored that and decided to blow through. last one went right up his hood, did a somersault and landed in the road. Broken legs and banged up, but not dead it put on quite the effort but it was of no use and finally came to a rest under the front of my truck.....the women folk were in absolute horror. Fella hopped out and admitted he didn't see the last two til it was too late and was going to take care of the matter. Suddenly I wasn't the schmuck I was before the incident and no complaints about my driving followed the rest of the night.
Side note, I didn't have to spot clean my seats but the girls had bad dreams last night about the ordeal. Doe was found in the field this morning with a tire iron imprint. Wife asked why he didn't take it and I explained some get freaked out by dressing out a pregnant doe this time of year. |
