YUP Kinda.
My 870 30" barrel extra full extended ported choke.
Home rolled 3 1/2" 2 oz load of #6 nickle plated lead at 1400 fps.
If I anticipate long range shot I go to my coyote load of Lead f's.
I shoot 75 yards plus on coyotes and have the shot go all they way through...
If you want to talk recoil, my 870 loads are WAY worse then any 8 mm's I have tried.
In the fall we can shoot toms and hen with any rifle.

Use Federal factory loads 12ga in 3"/#5 shot. Mossberg 500 with X-full extended choke w/24"bbl.
Use call and decoy to bring 'em in lots closer than 75 yds....more like less than 35 yds.

Last one I shot last year was with an arrow.

I like my 20 ga single with 2 3/4   #6.  Seldom shoot over 15 yards.
