Fisrt night out for bow season yesterday. My neighbor had been seeing a doe and two fawns every night for the last week and pointed me out a spot to sit. I was on a tree line (pines) so no place for a stand. I was over looking an alfalfa field with a corn field behind it 45 yds away. I had my deercoy set 30yds in front of me. I saw a doe and one fawn approaching from 250yds but in a different direction than I had planned for. They came straight at me instead of the deercoy. She saw it at about 80yds and slowly stomped her way closer. At 25yds I was trying to figure out how to draw without her seeing me. She looked back at the fawn so I started to draw but must have heard me. I held half draw for as long as I could but she was staring right at me. Finally I had to let off. She weezed and blew at me and ran back about 80yds and kept snorting at me. I tried grunting but they just stayed there til dark. Back to work today but I've got my hunting juices flowing now to get me through the week.

ddog,

That's tough!  I still have it in for a big doe that kept busting me at a hot stand I had been waiting on a nice 10 pointer.  She had that 6th sense about her and I just don't know how she knew I was there - wind, cover, etc. all bases covered, she just knew.

Look at the bright side at least you're hunting.  I've got another 3 weeks before I can sling arrows at deer with a heartbeat!  For now, it's only deer with a foam heart

Keep us posted!

I was just sitting on a 5 gallon pail with a few weeds for cover. I figured out what busted me. When she circled down wind from my deercoy she cut my sent trail from where I walked in and out to set it up. I had a scent drag line but she got me anyway. Got my heart pumping that's for sure.
