This is a fairly new round for me as I am in the process of reloading for it.

I have already developed one reload recipe for it but I was wondering if anyone here had some experience with this round and had a favorite reload recipe they'd be willing to share.

My recipe consists of the following:

  1. Hornady 180gr. Interbonds
  2. 66.0 grains of Reloader#22
  3. Remington Brass
  4. CCI#200 Lg Rifle primers

no, i don't load for the 300 shamu... local shop (well, nothing is really local where i live, but the shop i'm in the most) has a 300 shamu... been thinking it would be fun to get ahold of and run head-to-head against my wsm.

fwiw, my whizzum likes rl-19... rl-22 was a touch slow in the little case, and w/ the shamu being just a touch smaller, perhaps you want a little faster powder?

The R-22 seems to work fine so far,...I haven't seen any signs of over pressure, primers are intact, and there's no bulging or stress cracks in the brass.

I had picked up some R-25 by mistake after looking at their website and kinda' thought it odd for such a SLOW powder for such a small area of shell volume.

Turns out I was looking a the recipe's for the 300 RUM.  BIG difference!!

I wrote to to the people at Alliant Powders regarding their suggestions for this round due to the lack of specs out for it.

They told me the R-22 SHOULD be perfect for that round. I was kind of thinking R-19 myself,... but I just happened to have some R-22 left from reloading my 7mm Mag so I gave it a whirl.
