I went out today before the wind got hard.
Very slight breeze WSW 4 mph over my shoulder.
I had to reposition to get the sun out of the red dot.
We had to redo the scope mount, it came loose, so we used some Loctite and I had to re zero.
It took 3 shots to get it on Paper at 30 yards, then 9 to get it lined up. Then I put down a 6 shot group. I was shooting on my tailgate, bag and sitting on a chair.
I'm happy now some real practice.
On the way back home I was seeing a lot of "Targets" running around...

   D,
Good shooting.  For you I'd guess that any wind below 30 mph is calm.  Right?
Can't make out the live target?  Gopher or prairie dog?
How many miles out of town do you have to go to shoot?
State land?

YUP. Gophers.
WIND sucks.
Six minutes from my boat port is a section of state land. There is a bigger, 5 sections, area less then 7  miles, but it gets used so heavily used and junked up I hate to even go there.

Good shootin D. That definatly looks minute of gopher.

I'm thinking that with a bullet moving that fast the "splatter factor" of gophers and prairie dogs should be pretty high.

You know I have a 45/70 shooting a 300 gr Hornady at 2400 fps. I have shot gophers with it and it's more like a sledge hammer hitting them, Kinda just drives them in to the ground.Embarrassed

I guess gophers and prairie dogs are better suited for light really fast bullets instead of slow and heavy.
