Well, MYGAWDS 2017 is in the books.

I would like to thank CB900F for once again hosting a
great event. And also a last minute tour of the Mile
High King Ranch. I just wish it wouldn't have been
raining/snowing so we could have seen more of your
range.

I would also like to thank everyone that was able to
attend for everything. The weather wasn't 100%
cooperative but that didn't matter all that much. The
whole idea is to get together with great friends.

I had a great time and look forward to seeing everyone
again next year.

Another big thank you to CB and the other local Boyz. Wonderful
hospitality. Some of the best food, drink, and mermaids, I've ever
experienced. If it weren't for my weapon problems I'd have expended
way more than the ~ 1300 rounds that I did. Thoughly enjoyed myself.

Thank you,

DD

turn bolt rifle with 5 shot clips.

I think the CZ team did outstanding..452FS, 452 leftie,

OK, for those who didn't make it this year, here's my
review.

Pre-day-one, ie. Thursday night six of us went to the
Bar-S for dinner. They do know how to do a steak & a
"small" portion will feed all of Ethiopia for a week.

Day one, Friday, breakfast at the Missouri River Diner.
Most of us had the typical MRD breakfast that isn't any
too expensive & certainly fills you up. The sole
exception was BEAR, who ordered the King Midas pancake.
Note the term pancake, as in one of it, at $6.95 per
copy.

We then went out to the Cascade area to shoot gophers.
When we arrived, it wasn't raining, but it had been & the
ground was muddy. Care had to be taken to avoid having
mud on the seat of one's pants. In any case we shot the
morning out & adjourned to Cascade for lunch. Lunch was
very decent burgers and no surprises. Back to the gopher
fields we went. We had a decent, but not spectacular,
day and over dinner that night nobody complained. Well,
that's not strictly true. We did cuss and discuss the
infamous pancake among more pleasant subjects. Dinner
was held at MacKenzie River Pizza. Wonder of wonders,
Taz, the board founder was able to join us!

Day two, Saturday began with breakfast at Denny's. And
it's on the way to the gopher fields, a definite plus
there. We stopped at a couple of places to get
permission to hunt & scored nicely with the Olson family.
Two places were suggested to us, one we knew & t'other
was new. Both were good. We split the group among the
two sites as the whole crew at one would have been
overcrowding. Lunch was in the field, as it was a very
pleasant day & nobody wanted to stop & break for food
when there was gophers to be kilt. I had forgotten my
hat at Denny's & got sunburned. DRAT! When we knocked
off, I was able to return to Denny's and retrieve the
hat. Which was a good thing as I'd borrowed it from my
son & never would have heard the end of it if it had
gotten away for good.

We returned to the Econolodge to imbibe refreshing
liquids and figure out where we wanted to go for dinner.
That turned out to be the Maple Garden Chinese/Korean
restaurant. We did a family style affair, ordered six
full dinners & then just passed everything around.
Thankfully the subject of the pancake did not come up &
therefore no complaints were heard.

Day three, Sunday, started off with breakfast at the
hotel. Wingmaster provided the entertainment & that's
all I have to say on that subject. The day did not
promise to be a good one, with rain or who-knew-what in
the air. We did get to the shooting area, but took the
long way round to get there. Didn't matter, the weather
sucked. Back we went to the twin fields that were good
on Saturday, but conditions simply kept the little
varmints underground. I don't know how many gophers were
seen, but the number shot was far lower. And none too
many got seen, maybe a dozen. We called it an event
early because in any case, we had to get Cyrus to the
airport on time for his late afternoon flight out.

We also had to attend the spring gun show. That's always
the back-up in case the weather is lousy. Deaddog found
a couple of things he couldn't do without, we found some
interesting things to see, and basically made our feet
sore.

Dinner was at the Celtic Cowboy, and my wife was able to
join us. We enjoyed good food and stimulating
conversation, partly fueled by good beer of course. Thus
the official MYGAWDS ended.

Monday, Wing and J.R. came out to the ranch to look
around, but there wasn't much lookin' to be had. The
weather was even lousier than Sunday. He did get to see
a couple of guns I have, drank some coffee, and departed
for the wilds of Wyoming.
