Funny you mention Shooters. Before the "burnout" as you say, I frequented Huntamerica, and occasionally looked in on Shooters. I found 24hourcampfire, and at that time if you posted there you could hear an echo, and it was quite often a week or more before a response appeared. That's how few members there were there. I stopped going there for a short time, and when I went back, it had been virtually taken over by Shooters folks! What a shock!

Hello from Massachusetts! I was actually searching for some reloading items and came across this site through a google search. Spent the next 4 hours perusing the different threads here and liked what I saw, from the untold amounts of info to the personable demeanor of everyone here. I'm a lifelong gun owner, shooter, and occasional hunter, but fairly new to the reloading scene, so I may end up having a ton of questions for the grizzled veterans in that section. Thank you to all the administrators for keeping a tidy ship here, it's a breath of fresh air in this cyber world!

24 Hour Campfire or GBO or both, I do seem to remember something about a pic of a girl seated on some sort of ordinance with the BSB thing in the upper left corner.

I'm too lazy to introduce myself in the proper forum so I'll just do it here.

I've lived my whole life in Oregon. I was born in the early 60's.  My Dad was a beat poet and my Mom was a flower child.  We only had 2 family rules.  No killing anything and no guns.  I bought my first gun (an M-1 Carbine) shortly after my 18th birthday.  Dozens of guns later, I continue to disappoint my family, who spend inordinate amounts of time attempting to "re-educate" me into destroying my gun collection, burning my CCW permit, hugging trees, and lately, voting Obama like a "normal" person.  This makes for interesting holiday dinner conversation.

I really like the site.

Basslistic;

Just tell 'em you're celebrating diversity.  Your own diversity, because somebody's just gotta keep the early American traditions alive.  Those precious traditions are being so rapidly eroded in these modern times, that you're afraid that that lore will be lost.  Then thank them for having taught you so well.

We here at the shop will, upon occasion, try to get together for a group hug and shooting fest.  You're more than welcome to participate & we'd look forward to your doing so.

I'm out here in Central Kansas, Manhattan to be exact.  Hunting and eating are pretty high up there on my list.  We build things, ranch and we are lucky enough to live right by Milford Lake so boating is good.  We have private pheasant, turkey and deer hunts here on the ranch.  Rio and Easterns have been taken here.  Some nice Kansas deer out there also.  Thanks again Gipper.

welcome WW.

I'm living in Pennsylvania now.  But starting February 1st I'll be spending time in Estero Bay area, fishing my a$$ off.  Right now I'm running beaver traps.  Now snow but spent the day setting traps, was about 20 when I started this morning.  Wind chill is about zero now.  But a great time today.

I smoke salmon and some venison (deer hunting is a Passion).

I plan on hunting pheasants, boar in Florida along with a yak trip into ENP for redfish.  Mostly fish Pine Island sound (about 20 days in February.  Maybe a side trip to Marathon.  So we are NOT ALL Montanans ( or what ever they call themselves).

Welcome.  Hope to see you post.  WE have some folks that smoke (game) and others that just smoke (maybe strange cigarettes?).

Most of the guys are shooters and reloaders, with hunting as a side passion.

Hi everyone.

I got a smoker for christmas, so I've been doing a lot of reading up on it, which led me to your site. So far, I've done trout and pulled pork, and they both turned out great.

It just so happens that I'm a hunter too, so I like the rest of it too. I hunt deer and bear in the central California Sierras. The bear I hunt behind dogs - I have several houndsmen buddies, but I don't run them myself, I just help. Give my younger son enough time to learn to drive and split the work of them and I could end up with a pack. In fact, my husband and I are going bobcat and fox hunting tomorrow.

Not huge into fishing, but my father-in-law is and provides us with plenty of bass and trout. I don't know why everyone knocks bass; it's my favorite lake fish so far. I go once in a while, and if we get an ocean trip together, I'm all over that.

hey, jules - welcome to the BaitShop ~

i assume you're also registered at http://www.smokingmeatforums.com - www.smokingmeatforums.com ? great site for learning how to get the most out of your smoker. we've got some good posts here on that subject in the recipes section as well!

it will be great to hear how they hunt in your area - we don't have anyone from there and it will be nice to hear some stories, see some pix, if any, and learn about your methods.

i also like bass fishing and they taste great, but we sure don't have many largemouths here - we do have some smallmouth fishing and of course the mainstays of central montana fishing, northern pike, walleye, perch, rainbow, brook and brown trout. other species here and there, but those are the ones most fished.

feel free to jump into any topic or start one of your own ~ any questions, just ask!

Bear;

C'mon, we know DD, we don't know Thedad yet.  I'm sayin' that the odds are against dad showing up with a propeller beanie with pink condoms on the propeller blades.  However, somebody who shall remain nameless has done that.

Fella's;

Although I had to drag him, kicking and screaming, onto the site please welcome Tom S.  Those of you who have attended MYGAWDS in the past have seen his work checkering my 6.5 Swede.  Tom is a gunsmith & is excellent with wood.

He and his Browning T-bolt will be at this year's shoot.  Unless, of course, he comes up with another .22 in the meantime.  Things like this have been known to happen.

Fella's;

We have a new member, RC51.  He's a shy retiring type I found on one of the Ducati forums.  So, even though he doesn't give even his first name on the registration, if you see a screaming bright red Ducati doing wheelies in your area, it could be him.  Mine's black, and although it will do wheelies, I of course, don't.

RC51 is in the same political spectrum as most of the rest of us & I certainly hope the rest of you degenerate bums will join me in giving him a hearty welcome to the Baitshop.

Mines also Black... & I wheelie the %hit out of it.. Best wheeling bike I ever rode.. Oh, man.. Huntin & fishin.. What was I thinking..

Me.. I'm from the.. Well I'm from Mexifornia sorry to say.. Was a time great place to live & grow up in.. Matter of fact.. Last I heard, I was the only one born in this state.. Till lately..

Unfortunately for me, most my hunting was local, until I lost my last piece of private property to hunt on.. You don't even want to hunt public lands in Kalifornia..

Hunted Wy, Co & CA.. lately been saving all my pennies for African hunting.. It's an addiction I tell ya..

Thanks CB & Co for the warm welcome..

Regards..

RC

What bike forum would that be?

You don't drive one of those go-fast two wheelers do you? We have a guy on here that can do a burn out like nothing I have ever saw. I have a really cool video around here somewhere.

Anyway, welcome to the Baitshop. Hang your hat by the door and sit down a spell. We have a good bunch of guys that hang around here.

JSG;

I do not remember making promises about tequila.  Except never to drink the damn stuff ever again!  The fluid of choice is Knob Creek fine bourbon whiskey.  Commonly known as creek water around here.  Loose women?  Heh, go find yer own.

Fella's;

Another lost soul from the Ducati mess, Tveested is now legal amongst us.  Please understand that he thinks his handle is:  Twisted 10.  He's wrong.  Think spaghetti western Mexican accent:  Tveested.  Yeah, that's it.  You could even throw a third e in there and not overdo it.

But, do cut him some slack please.  JSG did cruely, and with full intent, insult poor Tveested mightily t'other day.  Accused him of using his 1098 more as a butt perch than a riding machine.  This could get ugly, particularly if the rest of us here pitch in too.
