Was lucky and found 3 boxes of 22 bullets, while searching for D45-70 GD rifle.

I use Hornady V-max 50 grain bullets.  lets me see explosive hits.

What do you folks use???

Bear,
I use 40 grain Varmageddon in my 22-250, 40 grain V- Max in my .204 AR, and 32 grain Z max in my Savage .204. (of which I have 4K).
  I've had 500 22 caliber 40 grain Varmageddon's on back order for 2 1/2 months.
Trigger Control is knowing when not to pull it.

I've used everything from 52 grain Sierra Matchkings in my 22-250 to 168 grain in my .308.

Right now I'm working on a load with 69 grain Sierra Matchkings in my .223. It is showing a lot of promise and I'm hoping I will be able to see hits through the scope.

Probably the most spectacular hit I've ever made on a prairie dog was with a 130 grain .270. I didn't see the hit through the scope, but it was at about 50 yards and it actually exploded the mid section of the prairie dog. When I looked up from the scope I saw body parts spinning to the left and right. Their was a fair amount of snow on the ground and the splatter factor was high to say the least.

Have any of you tried the "Dog town" bullets that Midway USA sells?

They usually have them at a good price.

50 gr dogtown bullets were $119 per hundred.  But like everything, they are OUT OF STOCK  now.

Are Dog Town bullets seconds? Are they accurate? I'm like D. I like cheap but if they aren't accurate I'd rather pay a little more.

It might be worthwhile to get some and try them in my rifle. If they ever get them in stock.

A test is always good.

But to me $2 per box isn't worth the exxtra time/etc.  when I know what a brand name bullet does.

I quit shopping Midway, after 30+ years as my place to go.  I ordered Hornady bullets, and they sent me generic bullets, unlabelled by Hornady.  They said, we buy in bulk and put them in generic boxes.  Even though their ad said Hornady.

For pistol or rifle plinking...generic if cheap are ok for me.

I didn't realize they repackaged bullets. I agree, I don't like that.

Good point about paying a couple bucks more and getting something you know will be accurate.

I've always been able to find whatever I'm looking for at a better price than Midway. Sometimes with free shipping. A good example is I just bought 2 boxes of bullets for my truck gun from Scheels. Number one, They had them in stock, and they have free shipping on orders over $50.

I like Scheels, always shot there when in Great Falls.  I'll start shopping them on-line.
