I've been trying for a resident Montana Ram Sheep permit for 45 years.  Maybe this year.  Should  know in 10 days.

MtElkHunter,

Wow!  And I thought that I was the only one who applied that many times without a permit.  Maybe this will be our year.  At my age (74) I probably don't have many years with sufficient health to climb those mountains.
   Good luck to you.Smile

Of the big three in MT moose, sheep and goat, I drew a goat tag in 1976 and never got at goat, I then drew a moose tag in 1980 and got a pretty decent bull. That is my sum total after 46 years of applying.

I just keep putting in just in case the lottery gods decide to smile on me. I have not missed a year, I don't really want to think of the amount of money I have put into the drawings.

Yea, lots of years with small lottery fees adds up.  and still no taag.  wondering if it would be better to just put the money in an old sock, and then when it gets up buy a tag, non-resident etc.????

I gave up after 15 years.

I put it for a number of public draw hunts here in Texas, for years, told my wife when I reached sixty back in '14, that was it if not chosen. I was drawn for two of the best hunts in Texas in the same year, both South Texas whitetails and West Texas mule deer. I took better than nice deer on both.

While at the hunting orientation on the property in South Texas, the staff talked to us a bit of the odds of getting chosen, poor. The fellow that was responsible for the Wildlife Management Area in South Texas, worked and lived on the large property and applied to hunt on it for 32 years, but was never drawn.
