Picked up my Sig Ultra Nitron. Only the 2nd officer's model pistol I've owned. This one feels right. The fit and finish are nice as I've seen without a $2k price tag. I was thinking I'd replace the sights with XS ones, and the trigger too, but these may be fine. A little orange paint on the blade and I think it may work. My pinky doesn't hang loose, just enough room with my thumb high grip. Only down side is it won't fit any of my holsters, and then there's that non-standard part concern. Weight difference and size are noticeably different (in a good way).

I ordered a holster from TT Gunleather, but it will take 4-6 weeks. That's okay, it will take a while to get it broke in and get comfortable with it. I'll let you guys know what it does on the range if it ever stops raining.

Fella's;

I just googled for pics & found a whole lot of images.  Price didn't seem too bad either, though I only checked one place.  But, nine hundred for a SIG .45 Officer's all decked out looks pretty reasonable against some of the other stuff I've seen recently - ie the spring gun show here.

Side note to Wing :  Ruger #1 International in 7X57mm, new, or a Ruger M77 International in .30-06, new.  Both at the same gunshop in Helena on Friday.  Want the contact info?

Thats a good one Mule. My boy has his eye on the 229 elite. I kinda favor the Para p-16 or the STI's. Tis a good day in the firearms buying side for finding a rig that fits and feels right. They make them in every configuration and size these days.....I try to wrap my paws around them all if I can.

Keep us posted on a shooting report!
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!

I can't say I'm thrilled with the pistol yet. Prone to certain part issues, and some parts are proprietary design. Several parts are MIM. Holsters must be custom for Sig 1911s, as the slide is more square than a typical 1911. The recoil spring is unique, and not readily available (even though an officers model pistol needs a new spring after a modest round count). I still haven't found one clearly identified for the Ultra barrel length. Tried to contact Sig, haven't got through yet. The recoil spring plug is prone to cracking, especially with the wrong spring (sometimes sent from the factory with wrong spring, cracked plug). The MIM part is only available from Sig.

So, I"m not entirely thrilled with my purchase. If it runs like a scalded dog and I can find a source for the correct spring, then I'll feel better.

No pictures yet. Have it apart on my bench going through it.

Wing;

Yeah, I made the same decision regarding the 7X57.  Finshing the CZ Fullstock project & have the model 39a to finish also.  Of course the ought-6 had the bolt on the wrong side of the action & was a non-starter.

But you shoulda seen the three-barrel Blaser set at the same shop.  It were boo-tifull right up till I saw the price tag.  Then it was just BOO!!
