We used to canoe the Marias every year. i believe the water levels are awful low anymore. And the outfitters discovered it, along with trash and spray painted rocks. The Missouri can be a bit over crowded for my tastes.

This is a five fathom frieghter canoe we built.

ric - i know what you mean about overcrowding. when i was a "kid" i floated the missouri river twice with the boy scouts, from coal banks landing to the fred robinson bridge, and it was totally secluded. the only real signs of civilization that i remember seeing were the major landings (judith and fred robinson) and the ferries. other than that, you would see a jet flying above now and then, and that was about it.

i sure miss those days! it may be overcrowded now, but i figure it is still better than sitting at home watching the tube!

you know, if we came up with a "plan" of our own, and scraped the boats together, and if enough members were interested, this would be a hell of a neat summer reunion...say from fort benton to judith (weekend trip).......

anyone interested?
